Shipwrecked

The fight of two young lovers
Against the heartless stream
Their laughs and lives and longings
To nothingness redeem

Their waves of hope like heartbeats
Still reaching for the shore
Freezing in their movements
And yet they reach for more

What they once shared
How they once cared
Still warms their crooked heart

Yet what they were
And what they are
Lies miles and miles apart

The shore is off
Their ship has sailed
The waves have disappeared

The sea is strong
Their love is old
There comes what they once feared

The lovers they fell silent
The waves they froze to death
Love foresees an ending
But nonetheless, not yet.
